President Ken Dekker called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. Those present were President Ken Dekker, Vice President Shirley Shaddix, Treasurer George Craig, Secretary Hillary Henry, Chairman of the Board Linda Hughes, Janet Stein, Shelba Parmley, Jo Woolery, Jackie Hertweck, Barbara Schindler, and Jan Waddle with guest, Bill Harlan.

A motion to approve the minutes from the November 21, 2009 meeting was made. Motion approved.

Membership Meeting
The membership voted to to amend the bylaws to: All checks for moneys of the organization shall be signed by the Treasurer. Checks of $300 or more require a second authorized signature. The result of the vote was 31 yes votes to 9 no votes.

Hillary Henry will submit the bylaw change to the IRS, Office of the Secretary of State of Oklahoma and ACBL.

Directories

Bill Harlan proposed new directories be printed due to the volume of new players that are not included in the current directory. It was determined that the bylaws do not need to be included in the directories, but they should be available at the clubs. A motion was made to print 300 copies for the May tournament. Additional directories can be printed in October. Motion approved.

Tournament
The strata limits for future tournaments was discussed. Most players should be in flight B. The strata will be determined by the unit’s points. Strata will be based on the combined average. Several suggestions were made to boost newcomer game attendance at tournaments. 1. send invitations. 2. change the limits to 0-99 instead of 0-50.

Treasurer’s Report

Net worth as of December 31, 2009: $59,647.14
Total income for 2009: $8,888.00

The total income for 2009 was $8,888. This was an increase of $9,367 from 2008, when there was a loss of $479. The net worth of $59,647.14 was an increase of 17.74% over the end of 2008.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Education
Shawnee: Justine is teaching the 2nd series of lessons. She has 23 students enrolled and is teaching from the Audrey Grant series. Justine’s ads are free in the Shawnee paper. A motion was made to give Justine $125 for teaching material reimbursement. The money will come from the Education budget. Motion accepted. Justine also has an open game with 4-5 tables.

OKC: The Tuesday evening game (0-99) typically has 6 tables. The Thursday night game (0-299) generally has 12 tables.

It was proposed that workshops be given on Wednesdays. These workshops will be geared toward beyond beginner. Clinicians teaching these workshops will receive $25 per hour. Teachers must provide a lesson plan and hands. Cards and board will be made available from the Studio. A motion was made to provide a $50 stipend to those teaching these workshops. Motion accepted. The money will come from the Education budget.

Norman: The Norman 0-299 Sectional will be held October 9 & 10. Beginning bridge classes will be held this summer. The Norman Open Sectional will be held August 14 & 15. Norman has had several players join ACBL prior to the deadline for the change in new life master point requirements.

Eric Bell taught 100 new students in 2009. Ken Dekker made a motion to present a certificate to Eric for this achievement. Motion accepted.

Unit Game
The Mini McKenney and Ace of Clubs party will be held April 3. It was suggested that the LifeMaster party be moved to late spring or early summer. A motion was made to make the Pro-Am Game a free game to encourage participation. Snacks will be served with a budget of $200. Motion accepted.

Anyone receiving a check from the unit as income must supply an address and social security number prior to receiving a check. A motion was made to require a social security number and address from directors and teachers receiving payment. Motion accepted.

A motion was made to adjourn. Motion accepted.
